I'm Australian and had no idea 20 Australians died, I feel like they didn't talk about it that much afterwards
I mean its stupidity on their part. Who tf would risk this. So careless. 🙄
This was shown on 20 20 years ago. I think they bought it from them
Human instinct and Mother Nature are the same we do things people would not believe unless you were there or possible. We are stronger then we know mentally and physically so proud 😌
Thanks for covering the Whakarii/White Island disaster.
There are maybe 10 documentaries on this did we need a netflix one?
Great fishing spot that one
is that Jesse Langford? Wow, he looks great I remember praying for him and his family. Is Kelsey Waghorn in this? I think she was the only guide on the island to survive.
I hope the entire focus is on the people who went back when they were consistently told no.
I love how Netflix will garner interest in documentaries
Those who put themselves second and went to risk their lives to save those of others are true heroes, and are true Christ-like examples
The courage and braveness of some people are such an inspiration. Just like the firefighters on 9/11. Live your life for others.
Crazy how this is just now being covered a year or two after Mr.Ballens cover
This is such a sad story
i heard so much about this already, im still disgusted by new zealand authorities
I 100% think "Rescue from the White Island" sounds better.
I remember first seeing this, search:
"White Island, New Zealand Euruption"
They just took the peoples video and made its a doc lol.
That island was ready to blow, level 2 out of 3,dollars to be made out of danger!
I’m appreciating the light shone on this disaster but it was so recent in my country’s history, literally a few years ago. I wish Netflix would wait longer before profiting on disasters that people almost lost their lives to
Netflix really capitalizing on the tragedies fast. Some of us didn't have quite an enjoyable NZ holiday that day and don't want to reflect on it.
Hate it all you want but i love Netflix for its Docu Series. Keep them coming.
What do you expect when your visiting a active volcano? Stupid idiots
my best friend died from that volcanic eruption😭😭 she would've been 18 and graduating high school
The helicopter pilot, who went and saved the people on the island, faced fines up to $1.4m 😣
I love when the arrogance of humans comes back to bite them. Yes let us go right up close to an active volcano and just hope it doesn't erupt, all for our own selfish entertainment. And even when it does erupt let's make sure we get lots of pictures. This is the equivalent of building your house right next to the ocean and then acting surprised when a hurricane destroys it. Natural selection at its best.
New Zealand should take full blame of this the so called professional staff had no idea and poorly trained just like pike mine story typical NZ way of business GREED before safety.
Where is this girl who lost her father and sister ,and she wearing a mask after this
I really hope we get to hear from Stephanie, she's doing well now. Her dad & sister told her to just keep running. They are heroes. @1:06 is that Jessie Langford? He looks incredible! Thanks to the rescuers that day <3

How to ruin the story of people's lives being shattered : let an american movie studio dub stereotypical music over the footage.
Why is every single film the same ? It's so pathetic. Just tell the story and stop adding music how hard is that ?
Humanity at its best, if we could bring this level of heroism and compassion into our daily lives and care for each other like this every day, the world would be a paradise
Bless you brave souls
I went on the island for a school trip. Glad it didn't blow up.
FINALLY I USED THIS EVENT IN MY RESEARCH PAPER IN HIGH SCHOOL!! IM SO DISGUSTED BY THE GOVERNMENT
I live in Whakatane, closest town to the volcano. I was in Las Vegas when it blew…weirdest thing, going from explaining where I live to seeing it all over the TV and everywhere. RIP the victims, terrible tragedy.
Didn't a volcano just erupt today in Hawaii
The vulcan of La Palma was better

Gives me chills to think that random citizens will put their lives on the line to rescue complete strangers no matter the cost! ♥
Best series stranger things ✌️ and I m waiting seasons 5 🙂
Why are you taking Minecraft story mode off of Netflix It was so cool pleace don't take It of and put more Episodes 🙏🙏🙏🥺🥺🥺
i swear netflix will make a doco about anything
You can see now the story on YouTube by 60minutes Australia and avoid the long dragging doc on netflix
Many in authority are weaklings.
I remember the active unrest of the volcano reported on Geonet growing more intense in the days leading up to the eruption and thinking 'how are people still allowed to visit it?' Most of the rescuers and helpers ended up being locals with many grabbing cling film from nearby shops and running to help. Awful tragedy.

They've already done this documentary. It was a 60 minutes Australia and it was amazing! Sorry guys, you missed the boat big time.
